When to Use Marble

Marble is ideal for highly stylized vanity tops, bathtub and jacuzzi surrounds, and for fireplace mantles. It is also excellent for board room tables, columns, pillars, elevator enclosures, flooring, capstones, handrails, and accent walls.

Marble is a crystallized limestone that was compressed and heated deep within the Earth’s crust. Unlike granite, it was never a densely compressed molten rock. Instead, it is has a medium density.

While it may be tempting to choose marble over granite for a kitchen counter top, it is important to realize that marble is softer and more porous than granite, so it can stain and scratch more easily. Its colors, veining, and patterns, though, can be spectacular, and it can be the perfect choice for accent walls, counter back splashes, architectural elements such as fireplace mantels and columns, flooring, and for use in bathrooms.

A symbol of luxury since the founding of the Roman Empire, marble, like granite, comes in a vast array of colors and patterns.
